Batchelor Isherwood Interior Design (BIID) is an established, approachable practice that has been creating bespoke, timeless, contemporary interiors since 1995. With clients in the United Kingdom, mainland Europe and Australia, they provide comprehensive design services for residential clients that balance luxury and practicality.

BIID contacted Cath Hughes of Phase Creative for help updating their website. The website was not mobile responsive and was not built in a way that would allow the owners to easily update its content. Cath then contacted me to develop a custom mobile responsive WordPress theme based on the website’s previous design with an emphasis for managing current and future projects.

The original design displayed project images in a grid gallery collage, however these image collages were created using a graphics editor and turned into one large image. This didn’t allow for flexibility when editing the website and would not work in responsive design as the image would resize disproportionally.

My solution involved the use of a grid template builder that allows the user to easily create new custom grid layouts. These layouts can then be dynamically assigned to a gallery when editing a project in the custom admin editor screen. The user can also set a custom screen width breakpoint and assign a separate mobile grid layout for smaller screens.
